Our old friend Rube Goldberg returned to Glanford after a far-too-long (3 year), Covid-induced sabbatical from our traditional Opening Week Celebrations. Days of thinking, trying, misfiring, and, occasionally, actually popping a balloon brought us together to meet friends, new and old, to laugh, and to joyously learn about our school and each other. By Friday we were definitely a bunch of Rubes following in the footsteps of the master himself, being sure to never do a thing in one step when six would just be funner!* (*N.B. “Funner: A term commonly used in middle schools and by young adolescents to describe learning with friends. Stodgier speakers of the King’s English may substitute ‘more fun’ but then they wouldn’t be.)
