Social distancing, cohorts, masking musical instruments… there are a lot of impediments to holding a concert during a pandemic. It makes you wonder why Ms. Kelly & Ms. Fisher… “Jelly-Fish” as we like to call them… would even try. But then you may not know Ms. Kelly & Ms. Fisher and just how passionate they are about middle school music. So with the help with our incomparable Mr. Weston, and a team of amazing grade 8 leaders, The GMS All-Day Tropical Play-a-thon on YouTube became a reality. from the comfort of wherever they were parents and family members could watch the variety of ensembles sounding great and having fun. This reporter, who was lucky enough to witness the Grade 8 band in person, can attest to how great they sounded. Bravo to all of our performers today, to the music minions who set the stage, and to the tech crew who made it possible for us to celebrate together while being apart!
