“It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become” – Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

Thank you Dr. Seuss – and thank you Mr. Brough! – for reminding all of us  that its OK to be saddened by how COVID has changed the things that we can do and the ways we can do them.  Thank you especially for encouraging us to move beyond that place and to cherish what we have, to enjoy what we can do, and to imagine the things we just might get up to!  Our first week of classes were strange indeed as we acclimatized to new routines and learned how our responsibility to care for each other had been supercharged.  Masks…Cohorts…Designated Play Areas… the verb “Handwashing” in triplicate… and Distance from Good Friends… All sit way outside the spirit of a Middle School.  But Monday has passed, and in the spirit of joyous adventure that has always been GMS, let’s borrow from the good doctor again:
“Tuesday is our day.
We’re off to Great Places!
We’re off and away!”
